The Pamela Trokanski Dance Theater invites contemporary and ballet dancers a two-week summer intensive at the Pamela Trokanski Dance workshop. The two-week intensive will run from Monday, July 22, through Saturday, Aug. 3 from 8:30am to 3:30pm. It includes training in classical ballet, pointe, ballet mime, classical repertory, contemporary technique, partnering (both traditional and non-traditional) as well as a survey of other dance and fitness/flexibility techniques such as jazz, African, Pilates, yoga and more.
Additional topics covered include the “how to’s” of dance such as stage makeup and hair, nutrition, audition etiquette, and performance skills. The two-week intensive culminates in a two-evening performance, showcasing the repertory learned during the intensive.
Tentative faculty include Taylor Herrera (Royal Academy of Dance training), Heather Wysong (Royal Academy of Dance, Cecchetti, Vaganova), Pamela Trokanksi (contemporary, barre, partnering) and Laurel Tennant (Boston Ballet), among others.
Placement auditions for the ballet and contemporary intensives will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at the Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop, 2720 Del Rio Place. The audition fee of $15 will be applied to the cost of tuition ($300), for students who enroll.
The summer dance intensive is an excellent opportunity for dancers who are interested in auditioning for the Dance Theatre or becoming involved in the creation of a new ballet repertory company to get to know the style and choreographers, as well as learn what it is like to work with our staff intensively.
