The Illusion of Control Preview

The 29th season of the Pamela Trokanski Dance Theatre opens with the premiere of The Illusion of Control. Choreographed to recorded text and a wide range of music including works by Ingrid Michaelson, Tears for Fears, Cheryl Wheeler, Patty Larkin, Radical Face, and Steed Lord, the piece is a look at how we, as individuals and a culture, seek to maintain a sense of personal power over our destinies.

The work is set on the 19 dancers from the PTDT, the PTDT Apprentice Company, and The Third Stage, a multi-generational, contemporary company, allowing choreographer Trokanski to reflect the wide range of human experience as we grapple with our control issues.  Thought provoking and humorous, it’s an entertaining romp through personal and cultural obsessions and appropriate for all ages.

Performances begin on Sunday, November 10, with a 3:00pm showing.
Performances continue on Friday and Saturday, November 15 and 16, at 8:00pm.

All performances are held at the In-House Theatre, located at the Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop & Performing Arts Center, 2720 Del Rio Place, Davis, CA.

All tickets are $12.  Tickets may be purchased in advance from the Dance Workshop or online from BrownPaperTickets or at the door (the box office opens 30 minutes before the show).  Ushers see the show for free while working.

Here is a preview of the dancing.  It’s just a taste of what you’ll see at the show, but rest assured, we didn’t give away the best stuff.
