Preview: Life & The Meaning of Dance: Davis Dance Project 2014

What does it all mean?  Dance from any culture may seem complicated and layered with so many meaningful aspects that the meaning just can’t be unraveled by the average person.  But with a few basic skills, anyone can understand dance.  This year’s Davis Dance Project “Life and the Meaning of Dance” explores what aspects of dance communicate meaning though a lecture, discussion, and demonstrations.  You’ll learn what to look for to interpret a dance across a variety of cultures and get the chance to apply what you’ve learned to explore the meaning of several dances.  PTDT, the Apprentice Company, and the Third Stage are joined by performers of Nepalese dance, Mexican Ballet Folklorico, and Classical Ballet.
