Davis Dance Project 2015: Darwin & Dance: The Evolution of Contemporary Movement
Have you ever wondered how a dance style changes over time?
This year’s Davis Dance Project, Darwin & Dance: The Evolution of Contemporary Movement looks at the cultural, historical and personal idiosyncrasies which influence the development of modern and contemporary dance. While it may sound a bit stuffy, it’s actually a fun romp through a diverse range of philosophies, costume styles, props, and partnering techniques. Performed by the PTDT, the Apprentice Company, and The Third Stage, the Davis Dance Project is a unique blend of lecture/demonstration, audience participation opportunities, and concert dance.
Show times are Friday, February 6, at 7:00pm, followed by two additional performances on Saturday, February 7, a Matinee at 2:00pm and an evening performance at 7:00pm.
All performances are held at the Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop Studio Theatre, 2720 Del Rio Place, in Davis.
Funded by our generous donors and the PTDT, this concert is FREE for children 12 and younger, accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are $18 general admission, $12 Students and Seniors 65 and older. Tickets are available, in advance, at the Dance Workshop and, at the door, 30 minutes before each show. Please note that. although children 12 and younger come for free, they will need a ticket to save their seat so we don’t oversell.
