Movies in the Park 2018: Star Wars

September 23rd, 2018, PTDT dancers treated the audience assembled for the Davis Sunset Rotary Club’s Movies in the park to a dance set to the theme music for Star Wars.  Dancers worked with glowing light sabers for the athletic piece that included partnering work and stage fighting.

This presentation is a part of our Dance in Public Places initiative that brings dance outside of the traditional theater space to help more people experience dance as an art form.  This particular piece seems to appeal to a broad range of viewers – swords and battles aren’t what you typically think of when you think about contemporary dance – eliciting cheers from the audience through out the piece.  Dance in Public Places is supported by donations from community members like you!
